thats awesome!!
way to go!
keep us updated:)

Thanks HPIZZLE! I will post more pics tonight. I finished the hood and spent three days boiling a piece of wood. Mostly because it was large and I could only boil a section at a time. Busy work schedule. :(

Nice setup, although I think I would have tended to a platform-type setup to leave a lot more swimming area available.

Agreee with you on the swimming space. From everything I read they tend to spend allot more time out of the water than in it, that's why I set it up with mostly sandy dock space. No other fish are going in there though.

This is a temp setup. Less I should be able to divide a much larger tank/diy pond for both of them within six months or so.:headbang2

UPDATE! Finished the hood setup. Sorry for the late pics! The lights are the old ones I pulled off an old 46G I had upgraded to a Coralife setup. Knew I would find a use for the old ones one day!

Lid is two pieces glass I got for free but were 1/4" too long for the tank. Siliconed them together on the top surface to make a flip up lid & added a plastic handle. To support the lid from falling when moved around I cut down 3 lengths of curtain rod to lay depth ways into the lip at the top of the tank and filled/covered the rod with silicone to keep the glass from budging. The glass sits on top of the siliconed rods since they are higher than the tank surface.
WORKS GREAT!

the setup looks sweet and i like the filter box you made nice way to hide and also save you cash on not needing the extra sand

Thanks! If you have the chance to get one, go for it. They are really enjoyable to watch. Awesome behavior.

Thanks! The box doesn't work well as a filter or hold much BB. Not enough water movement but it keeps the sand platform aerated well. I bought the sand before I had the idea. At least I have an extra 50lbs bag lying around though:headbang2 Make the next set up cheaper.
