New Tank Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A few months ago, we had what my son referred to as a tankpocolypse! One of the bulkheads for a return line into the main tank started to leak, so I decided to repair it. Drained the tank and placed the fish in various coolers and a large Brute garbage can I used for water changes in the past. Took me several hours to fix the bulk head for several reasons. (Word of advice, dont overtighten the male ends into the bulkheads or you risk splitting the seam.)

Was able to install the closed loop, but decided not to go through the bottom and went over the top. The return lines are ran through 2 Squid wave makers that switch off the location of the returns.

I also added some new fish after losing and trading a few. Added a Pollenei and Saddleback Grouper, Sohal Tang, File Fish. The groupers are getting a along, the Saddleback is growing really fast compared to the Pollenei, so hope the Pollenei isn't lunch in the near future.

Really want an Epaulette Shark though. I'm trying to find a new home for my Coral Catsharks if anyone is interested in them. Just PM me. If anyone in CA has or comes across an Epaulette let me know please.

beautiful tank, lovely specimen....how hard is it to keep a bamboo shark and are they likely to bite if you stick your hand in the tank?

My Bamboo Shark was easy. Fed him every day with long tweezers when just a small pup. As it got bigger, I would feed it homemade frozen food pellets the shape and size of a quarter by hand. It would always mistaken as a small Nurse Shark because it swam laps around the tank all day and didnt stick to its nocturnal nature. It was truly my best shark I ever had, had it for a long time. He's now living in a 6000g tank, still swimming all day long.
