New tank & cycling parameters

It would be slightly tough on the system when you swap the gravel. What plants are you planning to add? Might not be a good idea with goldfish. I actually prefer bare bottom tank for goldfish. I did have plants in my betta tank, plants help by consuming some ammonia, nitrite and nitrates.

I'd be adding just enough black sand to hold down plant; not pulling up old substrate. I've got 3-5 Ludwig arculata (?) plants. Bare bottom would've been okay, but this was originally set up with gravel. Goldfish seem to like it.
Just want a small amount of sand & a couple of small coral pieces. ( I know I'm obsessed now. I saw a 10 G kit for $32 @ Wal-Mart & thought it would be good for small fish hospital/quarantine tank & bought it.) Hmm maybe that's SO's problem: I've spent money!
Would my rings from first tank be good to start it & 20 long? (I've got so much to do.) Is bare bottom okay for h/a tank?

Good morning all! I think I'm in cycle! NH3/NH4 is slowly declining (less than 1.0ppm) but.. NO3 is still too high (still 30-40ppm)between water changes. PH is still a bit low (6.5-6.7) so I put in a 5" piece of coral. (if it remains low should I get more coral?) nitrite is 0
I think ammonia/nitrate may be due to goldfish (who are fabulous by the way; I took some pics. They've @ least tripled in size.) trying 30% PWC each time; have done every other day, but not scouring gravel.
Also had my "brown algae" bloom & cleaned decor stuff. Now I have a goldfish question: I think the little guy/gal in my pics is a comet, but is completely different color from my others. It came to me this color: I've called it platinum. Is it gold? Can y'all help; just want to know. (I know tank's cloudy & needs PWC!)
