quite into my oddballs tbh so i like the idea of the eel but im open to anything.
Whats the growth rate on one ?
They don't grow too terribly fast. I've had mine since late July '09 when it was 5" and it is now a bit past 16" long. From what I've heard, they will usually reach the 24" mark at around 2 years old, and 30-36" at 3-4 years.

They spend most of their time at the bottom, but they are very tame and once they associate their owner with food, they will come out and beg for food whenever the owner is near, and will let you hand feed and pet them.

Holy Sh*t thts well cool!! i had a wee look on youtube and websites all seem to be bottom of the tank :( ive got Ceaser down there so i dnt wanna cramp his style, hoping he'll become a heffer :)

They actually do very well with bichirs. I keep mine with a 7" senegal bichir, and most of the tire track and fire eel owners I've seen also keep theirs with bichirs.

I'm planning to get a few eels to accompany my arowana too, Gymnothorax tile and Macrognathus aculeatus. You have any idea if they're arowana-compatible?
Macrognathus aculeatus -- Yes

Gymnothorax tile -- No, they require a brackish setup

ummm ive seen nothing else that has held my interest as much as the eel, def top of the list frm wot ive been lookin at
