New tank, first real monster, need advice/help (pics)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have no problem with your setup and never said I did. I actually never said a thing about your setup. I just mentioned that check valves will eventual fail and should not be relied upon to prevent flooding. For some reason, you found this insulting and took it very personal. And if you reread your first post, you simply say they will never fail. There is no mention of maintenance.
I'm not sure what the number of posts has to do with anything since it is no indictaion of someones experience. If your skin is so thin that everything a person says is a personal insult, you should stay away from public forums. Now please let this thread get back to helping AOmonsta.

Whatever. My main point is that they work fine, as long as you take care of them. If you neglect the valves, they'll fail. End of story.

Final got the tank setup, thanks for all the help people. First time setting up a huge tank and sump so it took a little while.
Here's some pics, if y'all see anything wrong please let me know.

Shot of the back before positioning it where I wanted. Not all the pipes were connected yet:

Front shot, filled with water and added an AC110:

Tube connections. Made sure to clamp all of them justin case. Had to heat the tubing to get them on the barb, it was really tough haha:

Sump with bio balls, couple pot scrubbies, bag of carbon and bag of ammonia chips under the eggcrate, and large sponge seperating the two chambers of the sump:

Wow you cleaned it up really good!

Great tank. I too own a 70g currently and might consider upgrading to a 200+. Hopes this thread helps me as well :)

Personally, I'd raise up the standpipes in the overflows to reduce the noise of the water dropping into it.
Other than that, it looks great.
Make sure you have a spare return pump. They always seem to break on a Sunday after 5.

I did not even know what that piece was called or that it even extended. The tank is in my garage so the noise is not an issue.

Yea getting another pump would be a good idea, never bought one tough.
