thats a really good Idea Virgil, does it impair their ability to heat the water around them in any way? or does it just continue as usual. yeah when choosing my fish I decided to just choose fish that I like. ones that I found interesting and unusual and fell into the "semi aggressive" category.

i have not noticed any problem with the 2 i rigged that way.you could drill holes in it if you thought the water flow from top and bottom was not enough

Oh my god cichlidfish I think you may have solved it perhaps...

Looks like a Geo. Brasiliensis or Geo. Iporangensis to me.

Yeah I've been told that already. I brought it hoping it was brasiliensis. I won't be sad or anything if I do have an Iporangensis, they are pretty awsome looking. Only issue I have is that if this is a female Iporangensis she really won't grow that much bigger and my other stock might kick her around. she seems to be growing and is very active and territorial since I got her. so thats pretty good news. I just want her to hurry up and reach adult size/colouration so I actually know for sure which species it is.

Right now my money is on Brasiliensis because of the mouth colour and shape. There are a few yellowy coloured brasiliensis on Image search but I have yet to find either a juvie Iporangensis or brasiliensis that looks exactly like mine, so makes the ID kind of difficult
