New tank picked up, 180 gallons for turtle(s)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I wanna see more pics too! I'm so jealous : P LOL trying to save up for a 100 gallon atm for the male RES i rescued about a month ago. I'm treating him for shell rot atm, but he's healing well and having a good time exploring and chasing fish in the meantime. He may not be as exotic as some turtles lol, but he sure is fun to watch and feed!

Well the tank is up and together, except for the doors. I have to find a time when my little "helper" is asleep and I'm not!

Here's the tank setup WITH WATER!!!

The first one is the beast of a filter. I'm sure it's not as big as others on this board. But damn it's monster for me. And surprisingly QUIET! I'm running Pre-filter in the top tray, Marine Land Carbon-Ammonia Blend in bags in the middle and Bio-Max in the bottom. figured that was a good start for it.

The mission was a success, we ended up with 3 new family members:

Sedona a 6" African Sideneck
Collins a 4" Razorback Musk
Tempe a 7" what one person thought was a Yellow Bellied Slider and another thought was a River Cooter.

So far they are very happy in their new homes. Sedona (sideneck) has been walking all over the bottom of the tank, Phoenix is kind of slow and keeps ramming his head on the underside of the magnetic docks on the right side, and Collins is doing what he was doing with his friends at the store and hiding behind the mopari wood.

We ended up going with some purchases as the rescue seemed to only have RES and the wife REALLY wanted a Sideneck (Sedona) and I feel in love with Collins (Razorback). And Tempe seemed really active in the store and was hanging around the top of their pond/tank so thought he would fit well with the more bottom dewelling other two. And the fact they didn't even really know what he was I felt like he needed a good home.

Once my phone restarts I'll upload pictures of them.

Collins (Razorback) and Tempe (the yellow mystery) came from the same Store while Sedona came from another one where my wife also picked up a Black Mystery Snail for her kitchen aquarium.

That last picture isn't a turtle, but she's my other little helper.

I don't think I ever posted a picture of it, but there's a small hole cut into the right side of the tank, you can see it somewhat in post #43 in the second picture, that's the cat hole for getting to their kitty litter box, and there's a divider under the tank to prevent them from getting to the pump and other things under the other side. Now I just hope my cats are smart enough... 2 of them probably are, one of them....... would be good friends with Tempe (the yellow mystery).

Definitely a Yellow Belly
