If he has no diseases, spring is coming soon. I assume that he can catch live food since he was wild caught . When the weather warms up a bit consider putting him back, as long as he is healthy since he is native species, i dont see a problem, just make sure that it is fishing season for bull heads if you do that, dont want fish and wildlife to give you a fine for taking fish out of season. I would bring a pole with you just incase, that way if you are seen dumping him and they tried to say something, or said you illegal dumped a non native fish, you can say you caught him and just changed your mind about keeping him and were dropping him off on your way home lol. He would probably like that best anyway.

^ Hey you, delete or edit your post !!!! Like now... Because you are probably about to get ridiculed by a whole bunch of tree huggers... I know you mean well, but it is NEVER recomended, even if thats where it came from. Im not having a fit about it, but other people will read that and HAVE A FIT. and call PETA and green peace...

HURRY,

HURRY

HURRY BERFORE THEY START IN...

and sorry for adding more crap to your post, im just trying to prevent EVEN more.

To all,
I do not think i need to delete or edit my post. Im sure everyone here is friendly and polite. Im sure nobody is going to call greenpeace LOL.

Here was my thinking on it: I assumed that since the fish was native fish caught locally by the individual that it would be a simple case of "delayed catch and release" . If the fish is capable of catching live food and healthy and returned to the same area where it was taken then i do not understand what the problem is. I would only say it was a problem if sick fish were released or fish that were from a different state or geographical area, (like the oscar populations in FL now.)Since that is not what we were talking about as far as species and location i figured it was ok to mention it.

There is no need to get mean. I just asked about it. If there is a reason why this is a problem and it is put forward in a "short and concise", non ranting manner i have no problem with listening to the other side. It might even be a interesting thead or discussion to start somewhere else.

I personally do not take wild fish and put them in my fish tanks, so i have no experience with it . I was not joking. I was serious. Please note i did not say to release other species not found there, i did not say to release any sick fish, or fish with body fungus or skin conditions of any type. THis was only related to HEALTHY fish, caught legally , and only talking about putting it back where you took it from. As i said, if this is not the equivelant of "delayed" catch and release, please feel free to tell me politely why. Im not being snooty or saying anybody is wrong, i seriously dont see the difference and have never thought or discussed this topic before. Thats all. Please dont rant at me. Just asking.

If anyone feels they need to "educate" me feel free to start a new thread and PM me on the location of the thread. I do not feel we should hijack this thread to do the discussion.

Thanks, CG

I'll pick him up if he is willing to meet me on sunday in Brooklyn. I'll come through with the bucket

Im gonna adopt him!

Update:

After about an hour of slow acclimation to new water from my tank, he was finally released into my tank.

1) Largemouth Bass changed to a dark color and get very upset and spent about 15 minutes escorting wherever he went.

2) Channel Cat just realized that the newcomer was in the tank and quickly began escorting him all over the tank. The Channel Cat is throwing head butts at the Bullhead. The Bullhead is simply ignoring the Channel Cat but the Channel Cat is still upset.

I was afraid this would happen.....

That sucks, maybe you should divide him from the others for a day or 2 to let them get used to each other, they should calm down...

Give it some time. I noticed it helps my fish when i introduce a new fish to give small amounts of food or "treats" every fifteen minutes for about an hour or so then start going longer in between . Not full feeding amounts, like just enough to snap it up like a treat . I try to use something they really love like krill etc.. I also re arrange the tank. I would try those two things and maybe keep the lighting dim tonight.

Hope this helps.
