New tig

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well just got home and actually saw it for myself and it looks like he broke through the plastic on the back ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1395459368.713637.jpg

I'm really upset about it though. Only had him 6 days but he was prob already my favorite fish. Nothing I could have done differently, just a freak occurrence.

Thanks everyone! It sucks but keeping expensive rare fish is always a gamble. I'd rather lose a fish from jumping and dying in a freak accident than to come home and it be on the bottom upside down and you haveno idea what happened. But still sucks!

Empathies.

Just some thoughts.

The plastic when it is so yellow is very brittle, to the point of falling apart when being handled.

Also, when I secure escape-prone fish in the tank, I place weights on every part and all around the covers.

But who would expect a tig'd be so passionate to bail? Is the tank too small wherein he can touch both the front and back glass with his barbels at the same time? Then this would be better understood.

If he was adjusting hard to a new water and tank and tank mates, Pims are known to attempt bailing. Then too this would be better understood.

Agree with you re the plastic but as you've pointed out, there's no reason to suspect a tig would do this normally. They're not exactly the most escape-artist-like fish out there.
