New to arowanas, looking for suggestions!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Eventually a black or silver will get near or above 30", and should be kept in a tank bigger then your 210. It will however take a few years to get to the 30" mark.

Yeah I understand that some species get really large but also know that others (raphael catfish) don't get nearly as big. But I guess I'll scratch that off the list for possible tankmates. Any suggestions?

Peacock bass! Fairly new to monster fish however my aro and bass get along great. The aro is about an inch bigger than the bass which helps.

This would probably take more than 5 or 7 years.

Yeah I realized they got pretty massive and plan to save up for something larger for them a little later down the road, but thanks for the tip! I understand they are pretty particular about water conditions would around a PH of 7.0 be a safe bet?

Well with Experience i have my Jardini with 8 blood parrots.
I have seen other people with Discus fish

I'll definitely keep that in mind when looking for tankmates, would you suggest adding them to the tank before or after the arowana?

This is true, likely 5 years. Both my silvers are going on 30" and nearing 5 years old. They outgrew the 180g(same footprint as a 210)over a year ago. If an upgrade to a proper size tank can never be made then the OP should know that he will have to either part with the arowana or keep it in a substandard sized tank in as little as 3 years.
