If you're interested, you should check out Monsterpeacock's plywood build. His was a CAD designed build, from conception to reality.

TBH if you're not planning on upgrading to something bigger I'd stay away from arowanas fullstop. A jardini will certainly take longer to out-grow it than a silver, but it is also highly likely it will turn nasty and become intolerant of other tankmates. An asian would probably be your best bet, but even then you will probably find it looking cramped. You could pick up a nice RTG for a lot less than the price you were quoted for the red...

you know coming from the 105 gallon discus world, 265 gallon is insanity.... and now im back at the bottom of the pit with my new small (compared to you guys) aquarium....this is killing me, my other option is to spend a fortune and go salt.... but thats back into the full time job status.... and im not really a fan of gars!

what to do what to do!

Your tank would be large enough for a silver or a black for a while as other people have said, but I would not go with a Jar because they are just too violent. If you can find a Lei they are absolutely gorgeous, but they arent available very often around us. The problem with getting a Lei or an Asian is that they aren't flexible enough to turn around in that tank very easily.

There are always other options for cool preds in your tank. Keep an eye open at the LFS or online, at least around Chicago we have been seeing some really cool catfish coming in more often, as well as other random preds and cichlids.

Here ya go four arowana in one tank. All the aro are near 30" the tank is 450g 96x36x30".

Currently trying to figure out a way to move a couple of the aro as this tank has become too cramped.

You'll be fine in that size of a tank for life for silvers or blacks. I've seen silvers in much smaller tanks who were 3'+ and still completely healthy with no deformities at all. Most silvers wouldn't even have the luxury of a 8' by 2' footprint in their entire lives. Go for it if you want one, that's plenty of room for a silver or black to thrive in as long as you keep p the water quality. At the very least you'll be able to house a silver for about 5-8 years easily in that tank and a black for even longer, probably both for life.

wow, beautiful tank!!!! why does one of your aros have a flat front lip? hitting the glass?

It's built up tissue from rubbing itself on the glass.
