New to co2

If that pipe is the output from your filter, it's producing too much surface agitation, which results in co2 loss...same with the air stone and spongefilter pump. That is an airstone right? Where is your co2 diffuser?
Yes that is my output from the filter. Do I just move it down in the water more then? And the airstone was only on because I turned off the co2. I have the co2 off during the night and that air stone on to produce oxygen for all the fish. Only think on during the day is the sponge filter, diffuser, heater, and the canister filter.

Whenever your not injecting co2, you can run as much oxygen as you want. During the day, your co2 are wasted due to all the bubbles from the airstone & sponge filter.

The air stone isn't on during the day. Only the sponge filter is with the canister filter. I'll turn off everything during the day but the co2 and canister filter.

Yes. How long have ago did you plant them and any fertilizin?
the really green plants are like maybe a day old. The other darker algae looking plants I've had for a while. They were one of my first plants. What I'm using is starting today, iron one day the the p something the following day and rotating it. Then I use the flourish 2 x a week for the food.

Okay im going to chime in with my 0.2 cents...

1) how long has this tank been running with plants?

2) why did you decide to go with Co2?

3) do you dose any ferts in this tank, if so how much each time?

4) what type of lights are on this tank?

5) is your sponge filter running off a regular air pump? Coz i see you mention something about a canister?

6) how big is the tank

Give us that info and wd can help you better, coz right now this thread is all over the place...

1. Less then a year.
2.i went with co2 because I wanted to grow hair grass and overal have better quality of plants. Also was told by my friend that helps out at multiple LFS around me that it will help a lot. Co2 I just started this week at 1 bubble a second.
3.i do dose ferts. Look at the earlier post by me. I posted a picture of what I use and the days I do it.
4.type of lights are 4 t5 HO WAVELINK (I think 10,000k) lighting. I'd have to check on that. I think it's like the sun version or something.
5.that sponge filter was running off a regular air filter but I ended up moving it into a different tank.
6.tank is a 40gallon

1 - Well its good that you removed the sponge filter coz as mentioned, it will gas off any Co2 you are basically putting in...

1a. Also good if you moved the filter outflow below the water line, coz again it will gas off the Co2...

2 - i would probably add more plants into the tank, especially since just looking at the pics on my phone, you dont seem to have plants that are extremely demanding, and many could grow fine without Co2, so maybe up the amount so that it uses up more...

3 - your bulbs are a bit overkill for this current setup other than the HG, but definitely would put you up in the high light category, and i can see how Co2 would be beneficial there...

4 - regarding the fish deaths, how long did you have those fish and what kind of fish were they???

Coz while over-dosing Co2 can kill fish, it seems unlikey it would have happened in this case with such a low BPS count and the sponge filter etc...

So if i were to guess maybe they were already sick???
