yeah i really like the blue spots under the eye i couldnt get a photo of the other one he or she is hiding, how long do they take to get full size??

Jack Dempsey's are beautiful fish.
Under the right conditions you can have them grow 5 - 6 inches the first year.
After that growing slows down & growth depends on tank size, water conditions & food you're feeding them.

I look forward to updates on your little guys.

do you think they will eat hikari massivore pellets?? if not whats the best thing to feed them??

thanks

they seem to just be hiding is this normal?? how should i go about setting up the tank?? rocks and sand?? thanks

Ime dempseys are a shy fish and tend to hid alot.Sand and rocks and lots of caves seem to always work for me.I feed my demseys a variety of livebearers, ghost shrimp, hikari pellets(floating and sinking)spirlina sticks, shrimp pellets and fresh shrimp from the store. The one in the pic looks to be female.

It's best to feed them a variety of foods.
I feed mine a variety of special ordered flakes/pellets & frozen foods.

Dempsey's are shy fish most of the time & you should provide them places to hide to make them comfortable.
After a while they'll start to come out from hiding more often.
