The one on the right with a blue "beard" is female. The male has more spangles on the body and no color under the eyes.

The one on the right with a blue "beard" is female. The male has more spangles on the body and no color under the eyes.
What always works with shy cichlids is dithers, changes them into a different fish almost immediately

There not too shy now think it was just because they were in a new tank, what are dithers??
Hard to tell with the one on the left since the jaw is in shadow and there isn't a lot of visible spangling. If the green around the jawline isn't there, then it's probably male.
