New To JD's Pick This A Pair Up Today :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cheers for all the info ill try nd get a few more pics up soon hopefully i have a male and femle :)

Im going to change the substrate and create a rocky aquascape somehow soon

i have a pair of jacks and they eat pellets. in a 150 gallon high by themselves. they do like to hide but they are aggressive and i cant put anything else in that tank.

I would not classify Dempsey's as a shy fish (their named after a boxer), however it is usual behavior for them to be timid when placed into a new environment. Try and keep the lights off, unless necessary, and create multiple sheltered areas. They will become much more interactive very quickly and amaze you with their intelligence!

I bought a big rock with a load of holes in need a cave of somesort i think<, would you guys recommend puttin plants in there or will they eat them??

is it possible to put a couple bristlenose pleco in there with them or will they attack it?? there only babies at the moment about 2 inchs long there in a 60 litre grow out tank at the moment until i find a bigger tank going cheap :)

JDs can be shy.... but underestimating them against other fish is a big no no.... these guys can really take and give hits... But nice fish mate! Hope he grows up to be a stunner!

Yes you can put bnp in with them once they are in a larger tank and you can feed bloodworms as a treat once a week or so. They also enjoy shelled peas.
