Hello,
I've been creating species tanks for most of the time being in this hobby and have honestly gotten bored of it. I have kept large species of fish before (south american cichlids and large puffers) but I was intrigued by a few species and am currently looking into creating a community tank with them, species are as follows:
~Bagarius bagarius (devil catfish)
~Brachyplatystoma jurunese (Jurunese Shovelnose Catfish)
~Polyepturus (the species overall)
I was looking into getting a single devil cat after reading that they are an aggressive catfish that reaches only a max of 8 inches (according to fish base and planetcatfish) and a single jurunese shovelnose cat due to it being a pretty large catfish though it is smallest of its family (reaching up to 2 feet, according to planetcatfish.) Along with that I was looking into the polyepturus and saw many at the LFS I work at and was amazed by their characteristics.
Well let me cut to the chase, according to the stats on the species mentioned I've been looking into raising those species (from juveniles) in a 55 gallon tank (1 devil cat, 1 jurunese, and 2 polyepturus [probably the palmas,]) Just wondered if that would be ok. I do realize that these species need space so I know that I will need a larger tank to accomodate them, but at the moment I am looking to house them in a 55 till I can break down a few of my species tanks to make room.
Tips on the species or any comments or suggestions would be great!
Thanks!
