pressurized c02 is the easiest to regulate though, keep your co2 between 20-30ppm and you shouldnt have any problems. As for sensitivity of the fish planted tanks are so much more beneficial to fish like rams and other fish. As for lighting your only at 1.7 wpg which is kinda of a minimum when it comes to plants but that also depends on what plants you get.

Considering a 20-long is only 12 inches high, 1.7 watts per gallon is probably plenty for the plants you'll be keeping as a beginner. There should be a better measurement for light output for tanks. If this were a 20-high, he should be running at least 2 wpg, but 1.7 is plenty for a tank that is only 12 inches high, IMO.

IMO, anubias can be grown in a closet with a kerosene lamp next to the tank
