New to Polypterus - Substrate Advice!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's always nice to see a poly get rescued. Lap is in good hands now. Keep us updated on all your polys.

I wont worry about the sen, senegal are the most peaceful polys, i have my 3" cb koliba with a 7" sen & palmas polli, the only thing you need to worry about is the endli and ornate, endli can become cannibal when young, and ornate is the most aggressive upper jaw, it can become a killer.

My little sen used to beat up on cb endlis that were bigger than it.

Ok good to know. Guess I would probably be ok, will probably give it another week or so just to play it safe but we'll see. Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about their size difference. I would add the other 3 bichirs with the Senegal during a waterchange.

If you endli and ornate is smaller than the rest you should be fine. Upper jaws are not aggressive except ornates, but thats only if your ornate has a big difference on size.

I've never had an Ornate that was aggressive. I've kept quite a few Ornate too. :)
