I just recently picked up a pair of motoros a 8-9" Female and a 9-10" Male. I have them in my 405 with some dats cats and a few others. But i geuss my question is are the farily active, when i first got them in the tank they were all over the place and started eating wright away, but today the seemed to have slowed down and are staying together underneath a branchy peice of drift wood, they did come out to feed but ended up back in that same spot. They look very healthy and fat but just dont seem to be moving around much.

Also i wasnt planning on keeping them i was just going to go and sell them and try to make a little off of them but man do i like them and if all goes well with these i may get a few more.

try doing a 25% water change and see what happens. shouldnt worry as rays tend to burrow under the substrate after feeding time in a new tank.

check the peramiters to see if they are still good as rays produce alot of waste, your system might not have caught up to the new bio-load yet and you could have an amonia/nitrite spike witch could be causeing the new behavior...just an idea, not a ray expert but some things i have read....i do have rays now though...

Will do them seem very healthy other wise. The substrate i have in there is small pee gravil would that be fine?

First thing I checked all looks well, Thanks.

pea gravel is fine so long as its rounded and not have sharp edges. if it was me id either go sand or bare bottom. thats how ive always kept mine. what tank mates do you have with them?

Good, I won’t be changing the substrate until or when I move out. Currently I have 5 Indo Dats from 5-9",1 Flag tail 6-7",1 D.Sex 6-7",1 Fire eel 20-21",1 Tire track eel 14-16",1 Niger cat 13-14",1 Giraffe Cat 13-14",2 Irwini Cats 6-7", and 8 Silver Dollars 5-6". I will be getting rid of the silver dollars though, also moving one of the eels if they don’t work out together so far so good and I will be putting a 4-5" NGT Dat in there.

ive had trouble keeping my semaprocolodus (flagtail) with my rays. they were okay together for a while. then the flagtail had the taste for mucus and kept sucking at my rays. . . hmm wouldnt be at all suyprised thats why your rays are retreating and acting nervy. . . keep an eyre out for the flagtail. the rest of your fish list are totally fine with rays.

also flagtails and distodocodus sexfasiatus are incompatable. . . sooner or later the d.sex is going to bully your flagtail. ive kept them together a few times and so have my freinds and flagtail got ripped to shreds. suprised yours arent at it at that size.
