New to Rope Fish - help on set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hendre Hendre i do have space to feed the finned babies, it's always been flakes and wafers though along with veggies. but now that i have blood worms, no matter how hard i try, they just go all over the place! i did put one larger plant just under the spout of the filter to break up the current for the rope, that has helped a lot. i did a feeding this evening and with the current cut down, they "mostly" stayed in the corner i poured them into (frozen thawed out in tank water). but i have seen peoples video's and pictures of a nice neat little pile of food, curious what that trick is :)

I think frozen brine shrimp would be better for the fish, it's more nutritious

I used to use the frozen brine, before I got the rope. I got the blood worms because everything I read on the ropes said blood worms. They all are eating it. I can probably do both or switch back and forth, just want to make sure the rope is eating. I definitely have to put in more than she needs because the 3 piggies just manga on those blood worms like they have never eaten before. Even the tetras go after the blood worms. Lol

Yeah blood worms have alot of fat so alot of flavor fish love them. This is where you soak the pellets in the defrosted blood worms so they soften and get the flavor on them. I dont think brine are any more nutritious then blood worms honestly. You need to get the rope fish on pellets.

Brine has amino acids essential for growth

I always thought that brine shrimp was worthless outside of a snack...? It's what I remember reading...

Agreed that more variety is important for overall health, or at the very least a couple of pellets. As mentioned, use the bloodworm juice to make the pellets more appetizing. Then mix in some fish of some sort whether tilapia (for humans) or Silversides which you can get at Petco. Frozen krill and earthworms are also nice to add in to the mix.
