New to site and want to get first tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yesterday I finally got my fish, 2 male guppies and 4 female guppies. I was so excited and I looked closely and think one of the females are pregnant.
Then today I could not help myself and when to another place and got one pretty yellow and blue male and 2 females but the females I got today have a different look than the ones I got yesterday. These females look more like the males just not as colorful.
Also got a free fry because I asked the guy if I could get it he said yes and uh oh it hoped in the net with the female. I have been watching that baby and so far not any of the fish has messed with him. Also noticed that one of the females from today is fat so maybe more fry there also.
I also am getting a free aquarium from my friends brother he thinks it is a 10 to 20 gallon, so all in all it was a great day.:woot:

Congratulations!
Young females fancy guppies are thinner and shaped more like males until they reach breeding size, them they get plumper. these pics are from various guppy sites (there are several) first a male, then a non-pregnant female showing the pale gravid spot, then one that is a couple weeks pregnant. the gravid spot gets bigger and darker as the young develope. Just before birth it is almost black. They give birth every 3-5 weeks with 4 as an average.
