so i bought a jack Dempsey today i let him sit in the bag to get the water the same and now he wont eat he bullied my oscar around for awhile and now they dont really have any problems. so i put out a feeder fish and the oscar ate it big surprise right so i dropped another one in and it swam right up to the jack and jack just kinda looked at it and turned away so that was hours ago so i just tried feding it the chiclid pellets i feed the oscar and the flakes and he wont eat i dont know why tho is it because it eat different food or something or am i just not doing something right? any help would be great!

A couple pieces of basic information would help out greatly.

First, what size tank are these in? Second, what size are the fish and how many of what kind do you have in the tank? Third, how long has the tank been up? Fourth, whats your water change schedual like? Do you know your water parimeters?

Sorry if i'm making this kind of complicated, but if this is your first time keeping fish then its best to get everything nailed down right from the beginning.

Oh, and welcome to MFK!!!

well they r in a 10 gallon tank, i just changed the water befor i put all the fish in, my oscar is about 3-3.5 inches and my jack is about 4-5 inches and the others are a snail and a sucker fish thats all i have in there the tank has only been up for 4 or 5 days now and i havent bought a water test kit yet (lack of fundage), and i 50% change the water about every 4-5 days at least i try to

i know that but i thought tit would be better to put them together when they were small so they wouldnt fight as if they were both grown up im on the hunt for a cheap tank that is bigger oh and a little off topic is there anything i can put in there that would be along the same lines of fish or something a little cooler than cat fish and sharks that they wont eat? everyone told me the jack and the oscar wouldnt get along but they r

Fish cost money...A lot. Be prepared to have to foot the bill for many things like , tanks, meds, etc etc.... As far as the jack, maybe he ate before you got him. Most fish when first put in a tank will not readily except food. I have had bigger fish hold out for a week. You must get a bigger tank soon. Oscars need huge tanks and great filtration. Just take it one step at a time. First step is patients...step 2 finding money for fish/supplies/tank....

And the "sucker" is probably a plecostomus...Also a large large fish....Check this out...He is 20"

i am going to get a biger tank with in the next month or so and i know its kind crowed but no one else can tell me what else will get along with these two and i reall waht a araowana but im afraid he will get eaten and im going to get like a 55 gallon tank i found one for 80 buck on craigs list the other day but i just would like to know and is there anything different i should be feeding these guys?

3 fish that produce a heavy bio-load in an uncycled 10g is almost certain death, be prepared to do large water changes daily or twice a day till you get a bigger tank. an arowana gonna need atleast 240g.
this almost is troll material.
