Last time I checked, 25+25=50. lol Your advice probably would work, but by the end of the 6 months I see one puffer. OP A 46 gallon would not be adequate, but loads better than a 10!

ahhh but here is where it becomes complicated:
25% on the draw = 25% Total Dissolved Solids taken out.

You then fill that tank back up to full capacity. That dilutes the remainder.

So your second draw of 25% really is only 1/2 (because your already diluted the first half). =12.5%

25 + 12.5 = 37.5

AND, get a really quiet filter and always keep the water level high

canister filter, then water level doesnt matter as much. My marineland 220 is silent
