Underbite is not a defect, its actually a trait found on Trimaculatus and other Amphilophus sp. So its understandable that your flowerhorn has it.

O cool, glad to know it is a natural trait then. Update: He is a monster! Always hungry, and the colors are really starting to pop out. He takes food from my hand and tolerates me petting him. He just kinda circles my hand and seems pissed when I do it but does not bite. He did bite my friend though. He is finally by himself in the 75 and really starting to take to the tank. He is intrigued with everything and just stares at the T.V when I play Madden. I have read all the accounts of the WET PET, but I now finally get the personal experience of owning one. I must say everything you read does not do it justice until you actually get to own and watch something so intelligent in the aquarium. I will get pictures up by this weekend and possibly a video if I figure it out of me "petting" or interacting with the fish.
