with only 24" depth? the rtc will be half out of water....

also in 10 years most fish die, just like you updating your tank size and pictures of this make believe 300 gallon you speak of

And since when is a RTC 2 feet tall? That pond is 26" tall btw, so get your facts right.

It's not make believe. I will post pics of it in that thread just to make you happy. I actually forgot about that thread.

Yeah, I'm over 16. And where's your catfish experience? All they do is sit most of the time and wait for food. RTC's are not at all active when large.

WOOOOOOOOOOW dude get your facts right, redtails ARE ALWAYS ACTIVE, the only time they everstopmoving is when their stuffed with food, and even then they still move. They are always on the move looking for food.

Since when have you seen a 60" RTC in captivity? Largest I know of is like 42" and owned by a MFK'er on here. Sure it's still growing, but it's probably almost 10 years old.

I've seen bigger and I had a 57'' RTC that died a few years back, RTC's grow big, but only some turn into MONSTERS:headbang2

I didn't mean just sitting there, but they aren't like paroon shark active. They look for food, but slowly move around the tank.

yeah +1, i have no personal large cat experience...yet:D... but i do know that these massive growing cats need lots of space, think about their wild behavior, they are active predators hunting the amazon at all times on the search for food, if a larger cat is inactive it is either super full or being kept in too cramped conditions that it feels it has no room to move around in, i think the 8x8 would probably be good for a couple years but it would definitely need a larger pond eventually, i think a 12x6 would be a bare minimum for a fully grown rtc IMO but i would definitely go larger than that if i were to keep one

there is really no reason an animal should not get just as large or larger than in the wild if taken care of properly

All i'm saying this guy can have a RTC till it reaches about 36'' and thats pushing it, but who knows if it gets to live to reach that size.

Never hold back, because you may have doubts, go for it and then think about it later, hey if it gets to big, I'LL BUY IT, there you go, you can enjoy having a RTC NOW:)

Yeah, even for a fast growing species like an RTC it will take quite a few years to reach 36", so he will be fine for a while. While it may not be PERFECT for a "huge" RTC, it is MUCH better than a 20 gallon that a noob would keep it in.

I think you missed the part where he said he isn't going to do this because he only have 150$ to spend.... yet your still encouraging...:screwy:

nice rtc by the way
