Here is my O. Niger cat. He is about 15". This is a pic of him in hunting mode. Notice the raised dorsal fins....he is hungry. They are perectly adapt to eating virtually any kind of sinking pellets or prepared foods. This fish is and never will be considered agressive. They are awesome to watch when they swim around hunting, but also they do sleep most of the day with fins tucked in and motionless. Carnivore pellets are best for these guys, and plenty when they are hungry.

I remember my niger....Thing was like a tank vacuum. Ate anything that collected on the bottom. Would come up to greet me at feeding time as well.

are they really all aliases for this fish? i knew about pseudodoras niger and black talking cat but i thought the ripsaw was a different fish of the same fam.
 
I've never kept them but read they're peaceful but will get huge (30+ inches) and eat things way smaller than them. It's a cool fish I'll like to have:D
