Japanese Ricefish- once a popular aquarium fish but not anymore. I would like to see them more in our local fish stores.

Agreed

Theres a reason why natives aren't offered for sale, nobody is stupid enough to pay for something that they can get for free. and not many suppliers will pay to house and feed something that is available for free out doors. American Natives would however be quite popular if they were taken abroad to Europe as exotics. most european natives are carp, perch or wels catfish and all get HUGE. american natives are a nice size.

Yeah I meant American natives lol, and even though I can get a lot of natives there are a lot that are cool from different regions that are cool and do well in aquariums.

There are some natives that some American keepers would like to have but don't have access to.

About the natives. Here in fl you should see how many lfs get in bullheads, tilapia, loaches, sunfish, killies ect with their feeders and then separate them and sell them individually for a made up ridiculous price. Although i will say this, i can catch sunfish here with bread a hook spit and a line by the dozens but i saw a sunfish not native to here for sale in a lfs and i wanted it! I didnt care for the price i wanted it. I can go to my friends fish farm who has loose liberty mollies in his over flooded ponds and catch 100s grizzly bear style and to me theyre feeders yet in other parts on the US i know people who have paid $10 each for a large liberty molly.

Unfortunately most of the stuff u dont see enough here in miami that i wish you would see more is because its illegal. Rays, snakeheads, tiger fish, wolf fish ect

And for pets in general im one of those people that thinks there are already too many things available as pets. Things should be cut back not made for available. I dont need a zebra thanks. (Lps near me had one for sale)

Longear sunfish specifically. I have never seen a live sunfish, bass, channel/bullhead cat, minnow, trout, or salmon in my entire life. Despite having spent over 400 hours into catching a single fish I have never caught anything. All I want is to see a live channel catfish in person. THATS IT! But I can't catch for crap!! Id pay 50$ to hold 1 for 5 minutes. Regardless of size. Love to catch me a catfish. Gotta get me a nice catfish. I needs mah catfish...

Haha what rivers/lakes do you fish? Try fishing where other people fish in your area and learn from what they do lol, and its mostly a matter of patience... but it is almost too late in the season to catch catfish IMO. I would also like to see stronger strains of the ebjd in the hobby... the one I bought (like a dummy) had parasites from day 1 despite living with aquarium salt for over a month...

But seriously channel cats are a dime a dozen here. I can throw handfuls of them in your face...how much does that pay?
