New WC Palmas Palmas and Delhezi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am always very happy when new fish are comfortable and eat day 1. :)

I'm at work today, I'll have to ask my husband if Udon has been more visible today. So many plants to hide in. May need to pull some so they have more room to swim around eventually but they seem to like swimming in and out of the plants at this point.

Can't edit on my phone right now...

But just looked it up and they tend to live in vegetated bodies of water naturally, at least the Dels so that's why they like swimming in the plants! ;)

OK, Day 2 update - Udon the Del is getting more and more settled in. He is still not out as much as Ramen yet but out a lot more. They do like to hang out together though, and I have already seen some bichir piles. <3 Maybe I do need a third.... LOL

I posted a thread when I had the CB senegal about worrying about him essentially eating himself to death. Last night I fed broken up chunks of massivore, and I was initially concerned that piggy Ramen would eat all of it and Udon wouldn't get any, but she just stopped eating after she was full. She ate a lot, but she stopped. Maybe that is one benefit of a WC fish? Anyway, it made me feel a lot better as I really want to be sure they both get enough food, and I worry about bloat and constipation, etc.

Ramen and Blue, the Blue-seamed ancistrus. He is her upstairs neighbor - lives on the driftwood above her cave. ;) He is actually eating some of the massivore here.

Puppy pile with a cameo from Checkers, the leopard Ctenopoma.

Blurry due to the phone zoom. But Udon just shoved himself under Ramen here for a snuggle.

Anal fins are hard to get photos of - here's the only half-decent one I got of the Palmas. I'll try again today.

As far as the congos go, I don't really care about them that much but I felt like i needed something for the middle of the tank other than the Cteno.

The Wet Spot does have some rope fish in their holding facility (not quite yet available) but I know they like a group of 3 minimum, and at this point I think I might be maxing out my bottom fish. One more bichir might make more sense than the rope fish at this point. I WILL have them someday, I will just have to be patient and wait until we move/upgrade.

Thanks, I love the Del too. It was the only one so I was pleased with how he loooked - was worried there wouldnt be many markings, and I love stripey Dels.

I was originally thinking of waiting for a retropinnis or a moke. But I don't think I'll see those guys either - they are more shy I think, even though less common. Might be safer to get a Palmas Polli...? Then I'll actually see it. LOL They have some in the holding tanks at the wet spot so they should be available soon. I don't think they're as striking, but everyone says they're one of the more active polys after the Sens.

I am sick today. Going to be reading, watching horror movies, snuggling with the dogs. and watching my bichirs. ;) Here's another picture of the Palmas' anal fin. Anything conclusive?

But you would know its in there .... somewhere. lol

I loved the look of my gold dust with the yellow/gold colors but it was a hider!
Yup, but sometimes it will stress you cause you keep looking and you cant see it, then your mind will play tricks like(did it got out:o or did it got eaten:o or is it dead somewhere:o) lolz, had that happen to alot of times, then ill see it under the poly pile:D
