John,
Thanks for your knowledge I appreciate you confirming this! Great to know he is indeed a wild caught specimen and not a CB that will develop PLJ later in life!

No problem. We have alot of hard work in our arowana's. Since we buy them at such a small size when imported and grow them up to medium sizes we can afford to sell 8" for cheaper then an 8" fresh out the wild. With our experience it is best to buy the wild caught youth and grow them up on artifical foods to enhance color and tame ness in aquaria. Fresh 8" silver arowanas wild caught are very skittish, and usually take time to train over to other foods. Much more time and complication then juvies that never ate anything yet. Not to mention they also dont come in in the best conditions, sometimes missing barbells and really burnt fins and last of all they would be more money, for a less quality fish. Just because of size. Raising wild caught baby silver arowanas is the way to go with wild caught arowanas. You get to hand pick from 100s of specimens and condition them to your favor.

Thanks, John

WC will not develop PLJ? Frankly, 7 out of 10 of my silvers which are now 24 inches at least currently doesnt have PLJ despite they are CB.

Well I would assume that WC silvers wouldn't be inbred as some silvers are and would have a slimmer chance to develop PLJ. Not saying all silvers are inbred but something you would find at an LFS in wisconsin maybe is HAH. This is what I have heard I am not an arowana master like you! Just a noob here haha :)

Nice looking little guy. Keep him in blackwater, it'll help him develop richer colors.

Yeah I threw in some driftwood i might buy some ketapang leaves later...

BTW I think this guy has already grown an inch or more... in like two and half weeks... :D

Hey buddy,

Do you happen to have any updates on your Wild silver arowana? I got some high shine out of the couple hundred I have left. I am curious to see yours now.

No hurry. Just eager to see the progress from then to now. Its been awhile.

Thanks,
John

How much are you selling the high shines for??

I actually just sold him last week to another MFK member. He was 14 inches long when I sold him, I'll throw up some of the last pics I took of him soon.
