New Whiptail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Whiptails are hard to identify. There are well over 200 different species of Loricaria, which whiptail belong to. Rineloricaria and Loricaria are good places to start, but it is difficult because of the lack of data on these Loricariids. I have one myself, and he is very active. GL finding them, but it is a very difficult task.

theoretically could do i guess, but then you need permits and crap so i guess NO. lol. but yea i think they must be getting more popular or something, we have a few different sp. in that are considered whiptails(esp L10/L10a and L40, and L042 i think). my fav. is the L062

wow thats pretty nice... all my lfs carries are royals, green phantoms, and commons:cry:

Well, on the flip side I have NEVER seen a green phantom in any lfs around here and only one royal, so it can't be all too bad where you're at by comparison. I usually have to make phone calls and take long drives to get any fish worthy of getting excited over.

Trade ya some whiptails for a green phantom hehe
btw, that puffer in your avatar is awsome. I remember having a dried one like that when I was a kid. I left it on the floor one day and my dad stepped on it with his bare foot. He wanted to kill me. True story

Our LFS in the area have been getting more exotic plecos in lately due to a recent surge in interest of exotic plecs! Makes me like it a lot more, I can now window shop for exotic plecos and I love it. One had at one time 3 L200, 1 L128, 1 A. Adonis, 3 L106, 1 Albino Veiled Temmincki, 6 Veiled Temmincki, a lot of nonveiled Temmincki, 12 Rubberlip, 1 Gold Angelicus, 1 L047, 1 L330, 22 Asian Spot plecos, 3 12"+ Commons, 1 Columbian Zebra, Numerous Commons varying sizes, numerous L104s, numerous whiptails, and some others that seem to be eluding my memory right now. I ended up gettting the L047, L330, 2 L200s, A. Adonis, L106. I wish I would have gotten the angelicus to.

you really should have, that would have been sweet. i think im starting to prefer plecs because of their shape and colour as apposed to monster sizes. however if you can get both im always game!
