New Wolf; ID?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Took some picks but I have misplaced the cable to pull the picks of the camara.

It is definatly not a Mala. The under jaw profile suggests it's a lacedae type. Seeing my black and this one together they are not the same fish. Both are 14" but there are a number of differences that suggest it's not the same. This new one seems to have a different head and mouth shape, I can't quite put my finger on it yet as well as a much smaller eye in proportion to it's head. The colouring is identical in the stressed state but very different when relaxed.

huzzah! 6 nights, no casualties and feeding happily!

Happy days.

Great news Liam.

With the other wolves at the moment they are either Hoplias brasiliensis or Hoplias intermedius. Both of these can have 43 ventral line scales and four laterosensory pores alone the side of the jaw. I am edgeing towards intermedius as these have been reported to have been allegedly captured in the same location as curupira a long time ago. I need to find a decent pic of either to really id it or the capture location.

There is probably only the three in the country mine and the two smaller ones.

Still not sure which of the two species it is. I am sure there is a picture of brazil's posted on this site by braveheart. I have done search but cannot find it.
