I would like to make a new world cichlids tank and I have an 80 gallon tank at the moment. Do you think I can fit an oscar, JD and a couple convicts in it? Thanks

I think it would be a little tight, I'd recommend dropping the Oscar as well. If you were dead-set on the Oscar you could do one in there alone, or with a convict buddy. A bigger tank is better for Oscars, but I had mine in a 90 gallon with quite a few tankmaktes for years, and they got on okay. You've just got to stay on top of your maintenance if your gonna try it, they can be very messy fish.

.
I would any amount of overfiltering change it?
Overfiltering is always good, (I overfilter all of my tanks by a lot), but at the end of the day an Oscar in an 80 is kind of pushing it already. You could get away with it IMO keeping him (mostly) alone, but once you add other tankmates who can reach 10-12" (JD) it becomes a bit excessive.

OK thanks is there a smaller cichlids other than a convict that could fit in there with an oscar

It's not all about filtration, although that is important.
But its about territory.
Many cichlids are highly territorial and a 80 gallon tank is lessthanhalf the territory most pairs use in nature. And a tiny tank is even less hospitable.

When they are youngsters you could grow them for a while in an 80. But an 80 is too small for an adult oscar alone. Maybe as adults, the pair of convicts, and the JD.
but here is a video of how and where JDs live in nature, when you think about it, an 80 is a puddle compared to their "normal".

That molly is a BEAST I never see anything that big LOL well, I'm not even think a molly can grow that big in the wild :)

Some Andinoacara species would do well in a tank that size, laetacara as well. There are some truly stunning and unique species out there that stay smaller.
