I'm currently looking at a house for sale and I'm really thinking about it. $100k, 2 bedroom 1 bathroooom, 1,075 square feet.

I'm still out of the hobby for the foreseeable future until I find my own house to settle down in for a while.

Oh Hendre Hendre how have you been?
Nice to see you’re still around! That’s a hell of a lot cheaper than California prices. My parents bought this house for less than 300k - I don’t remember the exact price - 30 years ago. Now this house is worth 1.2 million. It’s ridiculous how much being close to the beach can do for you. Their is a 700 square foot house a block away from a major beach, and it’s selling for 2.4 mil. Absolutely unheard of.

That minimum wage is quite low!
it’s nice that you are able to make a few extra bucks as a blue collar worker (like myself)and that you have the smarts to actually save for a house! Kudos to you

as for the fish list holy hell I had to go look each one up and I must say I am not familiar with those fish there were at least 2-3 that piqued my interest! I definitely look forward to you making them come to fruition ?
Hmm, I seem to recall that we had a member from Canada that was a house painter, was that you or am I remembering you for someone else?
Ooh, well you can't just tell me that there were some that piqued your interest without telling me, so which ones caught your fancy??
It's only a matter of time before I get back into the hobby and start getting them.
Biodiversity and ecology :D
I have a 15gal dry start planted tank so probably something small and colourful like ember tetras, rasboras etc. Rare bettas are super neat and apparently great breeding projects.
Ahh, that seems quite like you, I look forward to seeing the great things you do comrade. Have you considered the possibility of an ecosystem with very small inhabitants? I've looked into aquatic isopods and various shrimp and have thought about creating a full on ecosystem if I can figure out all the kinks.

Yep, I bounce in whenever work isn't trying to run me into the ground, which is almost all the time... All of California confuses me, 30 years ago something was purchased for 100k and now its valued at over 1m, I refuse to put in the time to gain a firm grasp on finding out how it happened, all I know is that I'm happy living in Georgia where the heat can hit 100 and that the houses can be bought for 100k.

Oh and also the house is gone, the listing is no longer there. Given the history of the house I believe it'll be re posted in a couple of months though so if it does I'll simply have more money as a down payment I suppose. Oh well, the search continues.

It is interesting!
The issue for ecosystems is some level of size is needed to properly scale it into something sustainable :) A shrimp tank is easy to have a "hands off" tank
