i've had similar situation like your festae when i had my dovii pair. there started off being about 20 red devil fry hidden in rocks, then after about 6 months there was on 2 left at around 2.5".

Love the Male blue Umbee. Do you know if that female is from the same collection point as the male? I have also wondered do you get your tanks built in your house? I would assume so with the size. Do you grow all your large species from small or have some been bought at larger sizes? Thanks for sharing again.

As far as I know they were from the same area. I started with 6 at about 1/2 inch and raised them from there. All my fish are either spawned by me or purchased at very small size. To me that's the fun growing them from scratch if you will. As for the tanks they are all made for me and delivered. The two 600 gallons were made in 1990 and then I made a wall to close off the room in the basement after they were delivered. The real Monster tank is in my garage so I just had to open the garage doors and have it driven right in....
