Newbie Piranha Setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He unfortunately ate his tankmate about 9 months ago. I wanted to integrate more rbp's I just didn't know how long I should wait after a new tank set up. He was in a very cramped tank only 40gal.

Thank you for the advice. I know he looks really lonely in there. I was looking for websites to order some rbp's because my local fish lady has a limited supply.

If you think shrimp make a mess try ground beef balls :D

Fish either eat their food whole or bite off a piece. They dont chew their food so if it doesn't fit spit it out and try again. It also means you get to do water changes and spend some wonderful bonding time with your fish.

Nice tank too, hopefully when the plants grow out the potential little guys will have more places to hide.

I fed him some shrimp he nibbled a bit then spit the rest out...what does that mean?
dont worry just try giving him shrimp everyday until he takes it, or switch to silversides, krill ,talapia and any other type of white fish, soon he will except, you should never just have two p's in a tank bro, thats a soon failure, oh and nice setup get 5-6 more his size;)

I just ordered 10 2'' rbp's...should get them Tuesday. I feel like a douche, I just thought he was used to being by himself, like he had acclimated. Thank you to everyone for the education.

nice setup, good luck with the new babies, keep them well feed and they will grow fast, in about 4-6 months you can put them together with the big guy.

@tellamuno: I got a Perfect-Flo undergravel filter and then I have a small external one as well. 24''x72''

i would add at least 2 powerheads to your undergravel filter to add GPH to the filtration and add some current. but yes very nice looking fish and tank.
