Newcomer to MFK: My new 100g build ;-)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A nice shoal of some smaller size school fish would look awesome with those nics. Like Columbian tetras or some fast moving danios. Good thing you got JK47 so close... he is like a walking encyclopedia of fish/filtration setups.

You're tellin' me! He is like C3PO for aquatics.

Wow I just went from nerd to epic droid nerd in two posts lol..

What Justin, you didn't talk your boy into a 3D background :)

Common now I wouldn't leave a freind hangin, wait until he loads pics from tonight ;)

CrimsonFog... I have a crap ton of some really nice manzanita wood that I still need to heat treat and boil if you would like some. Maybe you can come check out my 125 and look at these pieces. I would be willing to let you have some for free. I harvested it myself down in Bend, Or.

I just may take you up on that offer. Thanks man! I'm in BG, where are in the 'Couv are you?

That's a good buy for sure, make sure to get some pics when all said and done with its inhabitants.

It's waiting to be cut. ;-) I'll update the thread as we progress.

welcome to mfk. and so far everything looks great. looks like you have a good teacher and its nice to have another pacific NWer on here

Thank you sir! We'll be doing the BG tonight in BG. Hahahaha.

Okay, so we ran the tank for a few days with water and all is well. Time to install the 3D Slimline BG. ;-)

First thing we did was cut the BG into 4 panels. We ended up only needing to use 3 of them.

These clamps were super para'mount' (see what I did there?!) in pressing the silicone to the tank.

If you are going to silicone in your tank, make sure its the Silicone I, NOT the II. ;-)

JK47 cut down some leftover wood from the stand and wedged the bottom (and middle) in between the BG and tank to further get a nice, tight snug fit.

We are going to let it sit and dry for 4 full days before we add the water back in. JK47 and I will be going over to Brock's sometime this week to grab some wood (thanks Brock!). We are also going to add some rocks that Justin has leftover and we are planning to have the tank decor-ed on Sunday. If everything goes as planned, we'll have the Nics in the tank that evening and maybe some tank mates (still deciding).

That tank looks sick with the new slimline background in it bro. Lets head over to Brocks tonight so the wood has time to sink.
