sorry guys. i just have to brag about this. :p

just adopted another male FRT that is ~6". it was rescued in a very poor condition and groomed back to health by the previous owner. but due to it attacking the previous owner's fishes, it ended up in a pail with a base that is just ~3-4" bigger than it is. his friend approached me and had to scold and persuaded him to let go of it. it is also having a very poor appetite. but its quite healthy now. just that its still a little skinny at only 570gm.

wanted to take some pictures but my camera battery was flat. :p will post some pics later on when the battery is charged.

it is kept with my ~9" male now. so far the bigger male only sniffed and gave it some (non threatening) "whose the boss" bites. no injures at all. this makes the number of FRTs under me to a total of 3. :headbang2

will be getting a 6'x2.5'x28" for the FRTs in another ~6 weeks time. :headbang2will try to keep the 3 together. but will standby partitions to separate should any attacks happen.

same here. I can't believe how some people can have such rare animals and take such poor care of them

How many times is needed to repeat: NO NEW TURTLES WITH OLD ONES! shesh:nilly:.... Now that I let that out hopefully both your turtles will be ok ;) but imagen your new turtle has something nasty in him like tuberculosis or another agressive patogen?:nilly: Its absolutley crusial when you have several animals to quarentinize new ones like if they were sick untill its proven otherwise. Now all that already dumped because you exposed the old to the new one, but you should put him apart anyways just to be shure. Dont forget turtles are very good asintomate carriers, specialy when they come from a questionable sorce, and can be true ticking time bombs. Also because as you say your new turtle is still weak it would be good for him to be allowed to eat all he can in a daily basis without the possibility of being competed and bullyed by the other turtle, untill he has more substancial body mass and to be allowed to get used to its new surondings alone and in peace.
Waiting for the photos:popcorn:

actually the previous owner did a great job in bringing it back to health. it was in a far worse condition according to what my friend told me. probably he knows that the FRT is so rare thats why it hesitated in letting go of it and rather keep it in a pail. fearing that it may end up in a bad condition again.

Bad ass! :D

Just acquired a RES today. Got him in rubbermaid for now. Gonna grow him in that until I can get a 55 gallon setup. The kids love this thing....a lot more interactive than the fish for them....although I love my 75 gallon fish setup...hehe
