One proven pair and the Denison Barbs. You could get 4 small EBJD to growout and once 2 paired off then get rid of the 2 others. Tbh your aquarium is not large enough for both EBJ and the EBA.

Okay, thx a lot for your input.

Denison barb is my favorite fish all the time, I had 50 of them in my 250 gallon. How many can I put with the ebjd in long term? I'm planning to move some of mine to the JDs tank, and all of them are 8-10 cm long.

A group of 4-5. How many do you have?

I had around 50 in my 250 gallon, some are way bigger than the other. Should i get the largest one? Or just the medium one?

The medium ones.

Everyone has given good info but I recommend researching about EBJD health before buying one. They for some reason often time don't thrive in adulthood. There are people on this forum with adults and are successful at keeping them alive but still I would recommend looking into it first.

Hi, thx for your reply

I personally know this breeder, and the fish I buy would be 10 cm long. I had done a lot of research, and many said that 2 EBJD would not result in fry, is this true?

My current plan for stocking is :
- 2 EBJD (Just 1 if they can not breed)
- dithers (schooling fish, but I'm stuck whether I should add Denison barbs, Congo Tetras, or rainbow fish)

Which one of those dithers would be the most compatible with EBJD in long run?

Thx a lot

Did you add an ammonia source or just have the tank running with water?

I used media filter from my already mature aquarium, and once a day put some fish foods. I heard that it will help maturing the tank.

EBJD should to be bred back with a regular or blue gene jack dempsey, as If you breed two Electric Blues together, the fry are too weak to survive. If you want to produce the highest amout of strong EB fry possible you should try and find a good EB male and a solid B gene female as electric females sometimes don't survive the power of the stronger, more aggressive blue male. That is alot of work and money so sometimes just raising a solo EBJD is fulfilling enough due to their striking colors.

Ah I see, at what size should I get the fish? The EBJd would be 10 cm long, and I dont know much about regular jack. Said, I got a male EBJD..should I get a smaller female Jack? I heard that regular Jack are far more aggressive than the electric blue one
