How many water changes are you doing every day to keep your nitrates below 40ppm? Oscars even need less than that, at around 20ppm. So just imagine, if ONE Oscar in a 75 gallon tank being fed every other day can easily push the nitrates above 50ppm in a week, what is the animal mass in your current tank capable of at adult size? The goldfish alone will outcompete the filtration in another six months. How is a 125 gallon tank supposed to make a dent in numbers like that? You've brought sticks to a swordfight and now you're in a losing battle for your fish's lives. Best move is to ditch the pacu, goldfish and pleco as they are your worst enemies. The Oscar will happily eat much of what's left for you after that, thank goodness.

wat.

1-6" oscar 125g
1-2" convict 125g
1-3" common pleco Get rid of
1-3" pictus cat 75g
1-3" gold algae eater 125g
2-2" siamese algae eater 75g
3-3" common goldfish Get rid of
3-4" red bellied pacu Get rid of
5-2" emerald cory 75g
5-3" tin foil barb Get rid of

The above is where I would start...and what's the ETA on the 125? When I say "get rid of" I mean sell or give the fish away, not flush down the toilet.

1-3" common pleco

The ones in red need to go.. either for bio-load/max size. or in the goldfishs case cold water fish vs tropical fish.

either I would leave the Oscar in the 75 or move it to the 125 and keep the rest of the fish in the other tank. Should be a good start. and I would keep the fX 5 on the Oscars tank.. as knifegill explained why more or less.

Well, as i stated above, the pacu's and barbs...once, at a sub-adult size will be moved to an outdoor pond I set-up and still maintain at my parents house. >3000 gallons

The goldfish I like.

The pleco, oscar, convict, and cat will be moved into the 125. I've said all this. lol.

Oh, a pond! Very neat. All you need to do now is watch your nitrates and, as they become unmanageable, start moving fish to the pond. Sounds like a plan. But now is not the time to be adding any more fish to this melee.

some of your fish are not even compatible bro, something will be eaten someday.

okay, i'll buy that.

yea, gotta love the pond. especially in florida.

12' long, 6' deep (half submerged, half exposed) and 6' wide. all cbc.

and to top it off it's located centrally in a rehab for turtles and tortoises. no turtles in that particular pond. have them separate. ;)

yea my parents were very enabling. lol.

Overstocked... and the Convict will likely kill the Oscar with aggression. Even running a fx 5 for max bio-capasity your water quality is going to suffer alot. the pleco alone will make that water disgusting... let alone everyone else.
