I currently keep my corn in a large glass tank and dont have any problems and is in great health? maybe for those that need better umidity etc its needed. but i dont get how the likes of say a wooden viv would work better than a glass tank? as some people choose wooden vivs over tanks for snakes because of the humidity? also for the plastic enclosure what would you use for the lid?

Colubrids? Lots of choices there...Old World ratsnakes, giant hognose snakes (one of my favs), cribos...

Boids? any of the B.c.'s, sand boas, rosy boas, Pacific boas (some of my favs as well), carpet pythons, spotted pythons,...

JD, any idea how large of a snake you want to go?

Have u tried house snakes?? there rather easy to acre, feed and are 5real tame .

Corns are a little more forgiving with husbandry when it comes to heat and humidity so a glass tank usually does work fine for them.

My big boa is in a home made wooden enclosure. Wood and plastic have better insulating properties than glass (which has about a zero rating) so they are easier to heat. And since the only opening is a perfect cut for the CHE it retains moister quite well (although not nearly as good as a plastic cage).
Glass tanks have tops that are completely open so keeping in humidity can be a challange.....not impossible....just not nearly as easy.

Plastic enclosures are usually designed as a one piece unit with the doors on the front.
Check out the cages by vision and boaphile, they are great examples of plastic enclosures.

Yeah, I definately have to get myself a mexican rosy boa sometime. Sand boa's are quite nice, not sure what they're disposition is like. Not to keen on carpets, and childrens pythons were also a consideration. Tbh I don't wanna go any bigger than an adult boa constrictor (I am thinking 12/13 ft at largest?). Colubrid wise I think I'm after something unusual looking and colourful, a black rat nice is defo on the list for me too lol. Cheers for the ideas everybody, keep them coming.

We have several differant kings and all of them are great pets. IMO they have far more personality than boas. Rosys and sand boas tend to be ...well I don't think boring is too strong a term for it. If your looking for personality and good looks then get a nigritus or an AZ mountian king.

lol wow never knew their was old and new world
is that a stupid thing to say?
