NGT only eats frozen blood worms

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
do you have any teacher fish in there?

I tried mixing bloodoworms with shrimp before but he didn't take it, I believe he is going based off of vision rather than scent because he wouls swim all over the tank looking in every spot to find worms.

I had some small cichlids in there, but they started punking him so I removed them.

I decided to sell the little NGT to a fellow member and just be content with my NTT.

this is what I've done and succeeded every time.. starve the dat for 3 days, cut up very small pieces of shrimp and mix in the bloodworms.. the shrimp will take taste from the bloodworms.. try mixing 3 parts bloodworm and 1 part shrimp/pellets/whatever you want him to eat. I guarantee you it will feed on what you want it to feed on within 2 weeks.. :) for every succeded feeding you increase the amount of shrimp etc..
Tried this today nad to my surprise did find my NGT took a piece of shrimp-will wait to see if this progresses.
Cheers my friend
;)

I've tried this by accident and now my NTT eat bloodworms (sometimes). I defrost all my shrimp, krill, and bloodworms in a cup and as I cut the pieces, bloodworms will stick to the shrimp chunks.

My NTT will eat krill only if the pieces are small enough. My NGT won't greet me to eat yet =/ so hopefully once the shyness goes away I'll be able to get the NGT on shrimp too. The pieces of shrimp with bloodworm don't get a chance to hit the bottom with the NTT so I really hope his shyness goes away

haha, no need to thank me, if I were to thank someone every darn time I learned something new on here half my post count would be "thank you this and thank you that" but your welcome! :headbang2

the art of this is to get the shrimp"fibres" about the same size of the mysis/bloodworm/yadayada..

this and your other post are correct.
i had a 2'' NGT that only took frozen bloodworm so i fed it for a couple of months everyday sometimes 2 times a day to really fatten it up then used the method of mixing chopped prawn and whitebait with the blood worm.
it alsways ate the bloodworm until i totally removed this from its diet. it took a few weeks but it eventually took whitebait and then prawn and before i sold it was a little pig.

ive always used this along with the starvation method for getting fish off/on to certain foods and it always works.

one thing you did mention which is very relevant to NGT is you need to cut up the peices very small as NGT has the smallest mouth out of the datnoids. if its too big it wont even touch it.
