i just bought my first NGT, it seems to be the most stubborn datnoid i ever had.

what's the best method of getting it on MP or pellets. he's currently on live or bloodworms per the seller but i have yet to feed it that.

i only feed my other fishes MP and pellets which is the reason why these are food of choice. my buddy told they would starve to death? anyone have similar experiences?

what size is he? all of them are wild caught. takes time.. takes about a month or so to get it trained. once it sees other fishes eating pellets, it will follow. be very patient

its about 4"... i plan on starving it and just staying with my normal feeding of MP and pellets in hopes it starts to eat it. it looks very stubborn but well see.

First feed black worms just to make sure that it eats and is healthy....once settled in, start offering MP and pieces of market shrimp. After that insert pieces of pellets in the shrimp and it will be a matter of time until it will eat just the pellets.

hrms 4" might be a bit risky time to start although all my dats at 4"+ were converted to pellets after a FEW MONTHS both of my 3" would just not touch the darn pellets even if i crushed them into smaller pieces, a few days ago one of them died and now i only have one 3"er let, its freaking skinny now...so i have to fill the other dats up with pellets first and then ill feed market shrimp to him

i don't think i could starve them for a few months... i would do 3 weeks most, then give them some MP and try again... yes, i'll be cheating myself but it's a tough thing to do.

ahahas I know how you feel but I left them for my parents to take care of while I was in college so that made things a lot easier for me, I can't stand starving them too, but now it seems most of them will only go after the pellets and won't even touch the shrimp anymore

i have the same story like yours. i got a ngt thats so stubborn all i did was let him be in the comm. i surrendered to him coz i seldom see him eating. time goes by and he'll eat after you turn away from your tank. mine is already 13" after 2 and half years. in his 2 and half years in my side he only eats small mp. but allot. he cleans the uneaten mps. my friends eat small prep foods.
