Has anyone purchased nls recently?

Can you check the ingredient list and see if whole herring was taken out of the list and wheat flour meal added as the 2nd ingredient ?

To be clear i not saying this occurred but read on another forum that this has taken place on the jumbo fish floating pellet. Can anyone confirm if this change did happen and what type of pellets are they (theraA, algaemax ect ect)

I just bought a 350g container of X-Large float and sure enough the first ingredient krill and the second wheat.

Ive also noticed the NLS website has changed and the information they used to have available is not there. As of now looks to be all the old forum stuff but nothing as to the products and ingredients. So changes coming there, maybe as time goes on it will be revealed as to why the way its listed is different.

It is very clear why they removed the whole Herring as the 2nd ingredient and replaced it with wheat flour meal. Because it is cheaper. No sweat here though because all I use is HBH Foods and Tetra Jumbo Min.

I don't speak with Pablo as often as I used to, so I am not certain what changes have possibly taken place - if they even have? Might be a label misprint, no idea? Wouldn't it make sense to contact the manufacturer directly & see what he has to say?

And Smitty, it may not be as clear as you think. If Krill replaced Herring, when mixing a batch of food with say 1,000 pound of krill, it would be the same (in sorts) to 500 lbs of krill, and 500 lb's of herring. On a dry matter basis, in order of dry weight, wheat would land second in that formula, instead of 3rd, but the marine protein content would be the same quantity as it as always been. See how that works.

I recently bought a container of NLS pellets; same pellet as the previous container. I noticed this new batch actually smells different than the other one. I will look at the ingredient list tonight if I remember and look to see if it's different.

Maybe but i decided to see what other members have seen instead.

Interested to see what the ingredients say

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your inquiry. All our formulas had their most drastic change about 2 years ago, where we increased the krill & fish oil, and decreased the wheat flour. This made the pellets more palatable to the fish and gave them more protein. Hope that helps.

Sent them an email today and received this response.

Here is the other half of the label under the ingredients.

I bought the NLS Large Fish Formula-Natural Color Enhancing 3mm Sinking Pellets. The first six ingredients are the same for both containers, after that there are minor variations. The slight difference almost smells like stronger garlic scent in the new batch.
