I have read that many pelople only use biomax in these filters and don't get the carbon. What do you think?

after a while carbon is no good so you can also use for media...however i dont like to use carbon too. for AC use bio max is the way to go.

Carbon is only good for removing meds. Ditch the carbon, add more bio media. I have a dozen AC filters, don't use carbon in any of them

Wouldnt carbon be good to have in place to filter other bad things in the water? I know its not as important as the other media, but wouldnt it be better safe than sorry? Im kinda worried about removing carbon for chance there could be something bad in the water.

So are you only keeping the sponge in the filter with extra biomax??

it was weird when i took out my carbon, my water was bad but i didn't have the biomax. but i agree with Pyramid_Party better safe then sorry

is not that you have to...its an option to keep or not to put. IMO just get rid of the carbon and put more bio max media...again carbon only good for a while.

What other bad things? The only thing I need to filter out of my water is nitrogenous waste. Bacteria take care of that, not carbon.
