The people at my local fish store said that they do well on ghost shrimp and frozen or prepared foods.
NO IDEA what to feed my ropefish

Ghost shrimp are great, but a very expensive feeding option. Frozen and prepared foods pretty much encompasses every other food option. 
blood worms, brine shrimp.. then later if your lucky like me.. tiny pellets.. good luck with him ..rope fish are very cool to own
My rope eats up bloodworms readily and has grown a couple of inches so far, I have never seen it eat pellets or flakes.
I've owned a rope fish in the past, their great fish to have. As stated above they do best in groups or pairs, certain parts throughout the day they'll just sit around the tank, and certain parts of the day they'll be typically active mostly in the evening and at night.
I've fed mine almost anything hikari... including hikari massivore, sinking carnivore pellets, blood worms, krill, etc...

thank you all for the great advice! now im sure i can make sure i keep my ropefish happy and healthy. would live baby mollies be a nutritious food? i have an excess of those...
You think mollies would be the best option if i to go with breeding my own live food for my ropefish?
Convict cichlids are generally considered the best due to their large broods and fast growing fry, but they grow larger than mollies so need a larger tank.
