This may not be new to allot of you , but today , to me , will be a new day .
I went to lowes and bought two short washing machine hoses tap into the washer
water outlets and bought a two , to one hose link and use the garden hose to fill .
WITH THIS I DO NOT NEED TO FILL UP THE WATER WITH BUCKETS HA HA AHA HA HA.

Now I just drain tank into toilet fill with hose NO MORE BUCKETS . more time for beer .
:D I will post pic of this method when my camera get some batteries .

Ya I got it down . I turn the hot on all the way and the cold 3 twists its perfect every time
HA . Ill post pic today on this thread . Its getto but it makes life so much easer I do
not mind doing water changes now . :)
The two hose lines were 11$ and the two way hose connect 2$ and I allredy owned
the garden hose . The best 13$ I spent in a long time .

Sounds like a winner.

New garden hoses have a fair ammount of funky chemicals (rubber softeners, mold inhibitors also if I remember right.) Run very hot water through it for 5-15 mins before each use for a couple months.

sounds like it was an older hose not new, i would just clear it, a run of like 30 seconds should be just fine, if not overkill

YA its a older hose , Good lookin out . anybody can do this easy
The pic will help under stand my jumbel .
It dose help to have your tank and washer hot A cold on the same floor / close together .

talk about temp swings, My water temp in Jan is right at 62F, in Aug it is 86F, I fill up a garbage can the night before, i run an air stone and pump the water in the tank.

my tanks stay at 68- 70 f most of the year.

How about water conditioners and stuff? do you just toss that stuff in after you put the water in?
Thanks

Actually the best way is to treat the water outside the tank. The next best is to add the de-chlor before adding tap water. You should add extra de-chlor if doing it this way to get the chlorine down as fast as possible. Me personally, I would never use this method for any of my prized fish. It just isn't worth the risk.
