non-nocturnal pleco's?

I'd suggest maybe removing some of the caves while still leaving some spots for them to hide. Like leaving plants and driftwood in but taking rock caves out. They'll still be visible but feel hidden.

I have L14 and they are so active. When I open the lid with the lights on, the L14 instantly goes towards where I dump the food. L14 active AND beautiful.

Also have a L48 and very active as well.

My ancistrus are also active during the day. Like others have said, it's more down to individual personalities opposed to species (though of'course in some cases a fish truely is exclusively nocternal :P).

My fish are in a smallish room so they are constantly exposed to my moving around; thus they only flee when i squeeze my face up against the glass to make coo'in sounds. *whistles*

My Gibbiceps plecos were always active during the day.
One thing you can do is throw in some zuichini or cucumber. I used to feed that every day so I could watch them all the time (probaly doesn't work with every pleco cause they don't all like fruits). If you think plecos create a lot of waste, watch them when you feed zuichini everyday, the amount of poo in my tank wasn't even funny anymore.:D

I don't think I've ever had a pleco that wasn't active at all during the day. My current pleco (a large gibby) is probably the least active pleco I've owned, and I still see it out in the open multiple times a day.

Reality is, all plecos prefer to hide. There's a saying-- "a hiding pleco is a happy pleco." The best you can hope for is, with time, one that begs for food when it's feeding time.
Well I guess I have a bi-polar pleco, then. ;)

i had a large gibby that was very active and currently have a baby gibby that is already exremely active and feeding all day after only 48 hours of being in the tank. i have also heard that the l014 are pretty active as well.

My old royal never hid at all. Just constantly eating and pooping and then pooping somemore, more than anything i have ever seen. My blue panaque was out alot too.
