Thats a nice pick up downsouth =] yup just wait a little more when it grows more lol this lil bugger of yours is going to grow into your monster at home xD And with him hiding behind rocks and stuff like that...don't worry if you are...its either still getting acclimated and or just not used to the new surroundings. So what are you feeding it now? And what size tank he in?

Thanks CL! Yeah I guess coming from a small tank she must be new to her surroundings. I'm giving it live feeders just not sure what kind, I'll take pics of it tom.

Might as well ask if it's safe to give her lizards since we have a lot of them here hanging on our ceiling:D

She's actually in a mini pond that was made for the kois, but since I find the koi to be boring I decided to add some spice in the pond. I'll be adding a gar or a spotted one when I get the chance and worry about the koi once the RTC and gar is catching up in size:)

Thanks again!!!

well I guess you can feed them those local lizards! =] ive fed mines a lizard I caught in Florida that actually ended up packed in my backpack on the way back home....=/ it was a 3-4" lizard....and well these RTC's just eat about anything in the tank....like goldfish ( Which is VERY BAD for any kind of fish to consume )- it can lead to some disease transferring to the fish....but you can feed them it every once a month or so just as long as your quarantine them for a long while. Or guppies if you want which won't be as dangerous but still could lead to the same thing as goldfishes....you can try crickets if you guys have some jumping around the ground or bushes....oh yea if you guys dig in the ground somewhere near you guys....see if you guy can find some Earthworms!! These guys Extremely LOVES them!

Cool little guy! Nice pond work!

I hope that your planning a larger pond soon ;)

Awsome pick up, you'll love this fish and won't want to have anything else with it. becarefull of what you feed your fish as you really don't know what illness they bring into the pond... that said you should consider freezing anything that you want to feed that your unsure of. Thaw in hot water then feed... it's the cheapest way to ensure that your feeding your RTC something that won't harm it as the freezing kills off virtually all parasites and diseases
