Noob on RTC

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yup I agree with niblit as from what I stated before....but just don't feed them this every so often in that week....just feed them those when they are cured off of any parasites it may be carrying and cure the seperate tank from any disease its holding.Keep the goldfishes in the seperate tank for a couple of weeks before it enters the tank with the catfish. But we ALL still recommend that you Don't feed them the goldfish. As they have no nutritions at all

yup its just those parasites can do harm if its an external parasite...that might do something on the outside of the body...or if its internal its just death waiting to happen! diseases are something you want to watch out for

Hey I'd like to thank everyone again for giving a noob all the basic info he needs:headbang2

I'll try to get a gar this week so the GF wont go to waste:D

I hear all the bashing of feeding gold fish, but I have to say that I have a Clown Knife that just turned 20. 20 years and he's been eating goldfish since he was big enough for them instead of guppies. He got ick right after I put him in the tank when I was 15 years old. That is the only disease he has ever had.

That being said, having owned a RTC in the past I would recommend getting him off the feeders as fast as possible. Too expensive for that voracious appetite. I fed mine everything. Bits of steak. Albacore tuna (packed in water not oil), feeders once in a while, cichlid sticks, whatever...And I could feed him that stuff from my hand. It was too cool...Closest thing to a puppy you will ever have in a tank unless of course you drain the tank and add a real puppy...
