anyone who is trying to help you, who has run _any_ kind marine tank before, is a moron.

I hope you are not referring to me. My "help" offered was to persuade him to abandon the project.

You'll find that, oftentimes, its more effective to describe the situation and enlighten an individual than simply telling him "no, don't do it."

He's looking for advice here. He hasn't bought the stuff. How many times have YOU had a crazy idea float around in your head for which you sought advice? There's nothing wrong with thinking about it. That's why he's here. Don't flame him and call OTHERS "moron"s because you're on your high horse.

It doesn't matter what kind of enclosure you have, marine or otherwise, when trying to house an animal that needs lots of room. This can be prescribed about horses and lions... and so forth. Many people on THIS site keep fish WAY too big for their hands/tanks that are of the freshwater variety. The same can be said about MANY reptiles. Obviously, THIS fact alone does not stop individuals from trying out of their selfishness (yes, its selfishness).

Keep the name calling in elementary school please.

PS: welcome to the site. I see that this was your first post. Not the best way to begin bud.

Its not that difficult if you start on a good foundation of knowledge. I had many friends already in the hobby to guide me and that helped tremendously.

I had 7 reef tanks ranging from 12~180g running at the same time last year before I moved. Now I'm down to a 40g reef and 40g FOWLR on the salty side of the hobby...

I did research, most people who have shark ponds use bio filters,$300, I found the same pool at $75. 140lb of live sand runs at my local aquarium store for $91; I think that's enough for it. Live rock is going to run me a $200 estimate and with xdragon's idea regular rock will run me $50. Also for the water I'll buy 4 32 gallon trashcans,$56, and in about 15 trips I'll have it filled. For a cover it'll take $30. So the total amount is $802, with the shark its $872. Anything else I need?

Ok, now multiply your estimate by 3. Yes, x3. If you've undertaken any large project before, you'll know that actual costs always run x3 your initial estimate. lol :WHOA:
